Dr. Dennis E. Szymanski, originally from Long Island, NY, currently resides in
Sneads Ferry, NC. He holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from North
Carolina State University, with a focus on the growth of compound semiconductors for
power electronic applications. While at N.C. State University, Dennis obtained a
Technology, Commercialization, and Entrepreneurship Certificate, and held an
internship with the Office of Research Commercialization. Prior to N.C. State, Dennis
attended the State University of New York at Albany, The Colleges of Nanoscale
Science and Engineering attaining a B.S. in Nanoscale Engineering, with minors in
Mathematics and Business.
Dennis spent one year with Tokyo Electron Technology Center, America in
Albany, NY as a Process Engineer, focusing on next generation silicon process
integration technology. During his graduate work at N.C. State, Dennis collaborated
heavily with Adroit Materials, working as an R & D engineer on III-V optoelectronic
materials. Currently, Dennis works for IQE, a compound semiconductor manufacturing
company based in the United Kingdom. He has held several positions at IQE, including
Product Engineer for Power materials and Field Application Engineer for Infrared
products. In these roles, Dennis served as the technical and product expert for product
lines generating $20 million of yearly revenue. Dennis is a passionate public speaker
and is currently the Treasurer of the Toastmasters Jacksonville, NC Club 3478.
